Class Description:

In this workshop, participants will learn how flat materials become three-dimensional forms. Using lightweight 2-mil plastic, we’ll explore the basics of pattern making for inflatable sculpture—translating simple three-dimensional ideas into two-dimensional shapes that can be cut, assembled, and inflated.

Participants will design and fabricate a small inflatable by cutting and taping plastic patterns, then bring their sculpture to life with air. Along the way, we’ll discuss how these same patterning strategies can scale up to large-scale inflatable installations or be adapted to create stuffed or soft sculptural forms.

No prior experience required.
